Conjugation of "ir" verbs

Changing “ir” ending verbs:

1. Drop the “ir” ending from the verb.
2. Add the appropriate ending to match the pronoun.

The difference between "er" and "ir" ending verbs are the nosotros/as forms. The "ir" verb has the "imos" ending, and the "er" verb has the "emos" ending.

Conjugating “ar” verbs:
What is conjugation? = You change the verb form to match the person that is doing the action.

example:
1. verb- estudiar (to study)
• this is the infinitive or unchanged verb.

2. I need to change this verb to match the person.
example= Yo estudio. (the ending “ar” was dropped and “o” was added)

A. Each person has a different ending when you conjugate:
* drop the ending “ar” and add these endings:

Family Project:
In this project you will describe your real or imaginary family.
You will need to include a representation of 3 generations:

1st generation – los abuelos
2nd generation – los padres, los tíos
3rd generation – tú, los hermanos, los primos

You will need to include at least ten people in this process.
You will need to use actual pictures or cutouts from magazines to represent the various members of the family.

• You will then choose three of these family members, one from each generation, and write a paragraph description of each one using the following information:

Content:
1. The person’s relationship to you. (mi padre, mi hermana, mi tío, mi primo etc…)
2. Their age and birthday.
3. Physical description. Use at least 2 positive adjectives, with a total of 3 descriptions of their physical appearance.
4. Describe their personality using at least 2 positive adjectives, with a total of 3 adjectives describing their personality.
5. Where they live. ( Mi abuela vive en Minnesota.)
6. Describe four activities that they like or dislike.

Extra credit: 5 points extra for additional family members described as above. (maximum 25 points)

LET'S PLAY Jeopardy!

We finished playing Jeopardy in class today via the powerpoint presentation. All students did a great job of participating.
Each student will be paired up with another as they create their own game.
The final product will be due next Friday, the 19th of March.
We will be working on this project in class for a few days and it is due on Friday, the 19th of March.
Here are the rules:

. 6 categories (examples: colors, school subjects, ar verbs, ir verbs etc..)
Each category needs to have 5 questions and 5 responses. That would be a total of 30 questions/responses for your game.
It can be any game that includes a minimum of 4 players. ( if you want the template for the Jeopardy powerpoint, I need your flash drive by Friday the 12th of March.
Appropriate material please. NO foul language, content, or pictures. Same school rules apply to the game.

On the Verb List for stem changing verbs, o to ue, here are the changes.

Almorzar
- the o changes to ue in the conjugations except for the nosotros form.

There is an exception to the rule for Jugar.

End of the grading period and AR verb test

Today is the end of the first six week grading period. It's hard to believe how fast this semester is going by. We will be taking the "ar" verb test today. This is a common assessment given in all of the Spanish 1 classes. This will be part of your six week grade.

We will begin our autobiography project next week. We will also be talking about school and things that you have at home and in your backpack.

We have been practicing using "me gusta" & "no me gusta" to express likes and dislikes. We are going to incorporate this with the other information that we have learned on how to present ourselves, to write a letter to a pen pal.
These letters are going to be exchanged with another class, and each student will receive a response to their letter.

On Friday the 18th, I was out ill. In class the students finished their mini interviews. They were asking the following questions:

You needed to ask 15 people in the class these questions.

The review was a worksheet that was assigned as a homework assignment. It was due on Monday the 21st of September.

We practiced these question by conducting mini-interviews in class. 2 minutes per person. Everybody completed 8 or 9 interviews. We will complete this in class on Friday.

~This week we continued learning greetings & farewells. We also learned how to introduce
ourself and others in Spanish.

~ Introduction of "regular (ar) verbs". We learned the Spanish pronouns { yo,tú, él,ella,usted,
nosotros, nosotras, ellos, ellas, ustedes}. Conjugating or modifying the verbs to match the
pronoun. We will continue to practice this for the next couple of weeks.

~ viernes: Speaking quiz on general questions. Most of the kids were prepared for this quiz. If you
missed it, you need to make it up before the 16th of September. The conjugation chart of the 30
verbs was also due. This was worth 150 points. If you were absent, turn it in on the day you
return.

1. "La cabeza" assignment: Decorate the blank head outline. Include a minimum of 5 descriptive words and/or symbols. Be colorful and creativo/a!
